The Academy is under the direction of Coach Derek Marinatos, former head coach of the University of North Florida (UNF) Men’s Soccer Program. Under his direction, the UNF Men’s Soccer Program established itself as one of the top Division 1 programs in Florida and garnered national recognition with its first Division I era top 25 ranking (22) in 2016. The coaching staff has twice been recognized as coaching staff of the year in the ASUN in 2015 & 2016.
The Ospreys reached the NCAA tournament for the first time in 2015 and produced its first MLS draft pick in Alex Morrell (22 pick overall). The program has produced six professional players and four are former DMSA staff coaches in Alex Morrell, Kyle Nasta, Jay Bolt, and Josh Castellanos.
The Derek Marinatos Soccer Academy (DMSA) will service the demand for professionally run Soccer Camps in Northeast Florida and will foster an invaluable learning experience for each camper under the instruction and coaching of college, U.S. National Staff, ODP, club and high school coaches, and current players.

The DMSA Day Academy has established itself as North Florida’s Premier Summer Soccer Day Camp. It is specifically designed to teach skills, tactics, and fundamentals of soccer. This will be accomplished by individual instruction by our highly qualified coaching staff and age-specific curriculum. The environment will emphasize fun. Every camper will receive a DMSA T-shirt and one soccer ball**. The 2024 Day Academy will be held at the Duval Charter School at Coastal (12800 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32246).
To MAXAMIZE the overall camp experience for afternoon training and matches, we will be using the TURF field at Duval Charter School, outdoor Airnasium (Futsal) at St Johns the Divine Greek Orthodox Church and the grass soccer field at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club (around the corner). The field at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club is within walking distance from the school but given the time of day and the heat we will be using an air conditioned UNF shuttle to transport a group back and forth each afternoon for the 1:00pm-2:40pm training. *Please note: Tuition costs will increase by $25 the week prior to the start of each camp as well as for day of camp walk-ups.
**Only one soccer ball will be given regardless of attending multiple camp weeks.
Academy discounts will be given to the following groups (only one discount may be used per camper):
Campers attending more than one week of the DMSA Day Academy will receive 10% off tuition for each week (this is the only discount that can be combined with any of the other discounts DMSA offers and no discount code is needed)
UNF Alumni or Staff will receive 10% off tuition
Military will receive 10% off tuition
Groups of 6 or more registering for the DMSA Day Academy will receive 10% off tuition
Families registering 2 or more campers will receive 10% off tuition
